Installing a flagpole (step by step)

1. Vorbereitung & Material
- Check the location: Sufficient clearance from power lines, neighbouring properties and trees.
- Choose the height: Privat meist 5–7 m, large gardens up to 9 m.
- System: Ground socket (classic) or Kippvorrichtung (Wartung/Flaggenwechsel einfacher).
- Werkzeug: Spade/auger, spirit level, wheelbarrow, mortar tub, compactor (optional).
- Material: Ready-mixed concrete (e.g. C25/30), gravel/crushed stone, ground socket/tilting flange, pole, and an outrigger if required.
Tip: in exposed, windy locations choose a pole with a higher wind load class and consider an
internal halyard for quiet, secure hoisting.
2. Setting the foundation & ground socket
- Loch ausheben: Je nach Mastsystem typ. 40–60 cm Width and 80–100 cm Tiefe.
- Kiesbett: Add 10–15 cm and compact it for drainage.
- Pour the concrete: Align the ground socket/tilting flange vertically, pour the concrete in layers & compact it.
- Ausrichten: Check with a spirit level; with a tilting device, position the anchor bolts precisely.
- Curing: Let the concrete cure as specified by the manufacturer (typically 24–48 h until hand-firm).
3. Mastmontage & Ausrichtung
- Mast einsetzen: Place it in the ground socket or bolt it to the tilting flange.
- Feinausrichtung: Check it is vertical; use shims or adjusting screws if needed.
- Fit the halyard/internal guide: Fit the pulley, rope and cleat/lock as per the instructions.
- Ausleger (optional): Fit one to keep flags readable when there is no wind.
4. Erste Fahne hissen
- Attach the flag: Karabiner/Schlaufen befestigen.
- Hissen & arretieren: Hoist the flag, tension the rope and secure it (lockable when internal).
- Check: Check free movement, ground clearance and rope tension.
