In urban settings, buildings are often flagged from facades or roofs for lack of space. Roof poles are also frequently found on public or historic buildings for design reasons. On modern facades, decorative pole structures can be used as design elements.
Thirty years of experience with roof and facade poles ensure that the high demands on pole design, hoisting mechanism, structural stability and durability are met.
Rotating pole tubes are available, for example, which prevent the flags from tangling – something that easily happens with rigid tubes.
The widely differing structural conditions in particular call for extensive design work with regard to structural analysis and building physics. Preventing resonant sound transmission into the structure is just as important as it is demanding.
For roof and facade mounting, aluminium and stainless steel are the main materials offered. Poles made of hot-dip galvanised steel are usually painted or powder-coated.
Where buildings are listed, historic originals often have to be reproduced. Balls or finials can be made from sheet copper to the original pattern, including additional gold leaf. Stainless steel ball finials are available in various sizes with a matt or polished surface.
Various gaff poles are available for marking bathing areas, offering the prescribed space for the lifeguard flag, the red and yellow flag indicating that water rescue is on duty, and the flags mounted at an angle to the side to indicate hazards.
In addition to the extensive range of standard flagpoles available up to a nominal height of 12 m, special and large poles can be manufactured from aluminium, steel or stainless steel. Individual customer requirements can be met with bespoke designs. Poles and hoisting systems are engineered on the basis of the requirements stated by the customer. Special requests such as an electrically powered hoisting system or a light fitting are also possible.
A large stock of special tubes in tapered and cylindrical form allows one-piece poles up to 15 m long and two-piece poles up to 22 m long to be supplied.
